Furnace installs can be daunting. We have seen furnaces in excess of 50 years old in the field still operational! While we always recommend annual checkups (especially anything over 10 years old!), the standard lifespan of a furnace is 20 years.
Newer furnaces are more efficient! The older ones we have seen have been as low as 60% efficient. This means only 60% of the heat generated is being translated into your home. Now days, units are being manufactured to be as much as 98% efficient! While we still can install furnaces that are 80% efficient, we have found most people pay of the difference within about 5 years.
Safety! All newer models are no longer coming with standing pilot ignition systems and with more safety switches to ensure the safety of your home and your family. This ensures the furnace will be safe to run for many years. We also look at the venting to make sure we will not be leaking Carbon Monoxide into the home with a new system. Fro furnaces that vent through a metal pipe into a masonry chimeny, we always install a liner to protect the masonry chimney from degradation and possible collapse.
Availability! lets be honest, Murphy’s law tells us that a furnace will have an issue on the coldest day of the year. That is not a problem for us! We always have a technician on call and we stock our most common furnaces sizes at our shop! We prioritize our no-heat calls to make sure you aren’t stuck in the cold! We also stock the most common repair parts and do our best to get you by until you can replace your furnace!
Aren’t they expensive? We have affordable options to help you when the time comes. We also have great financing options to help with the cost if needed! We try to give options when possible for different efficiencies and let you know what your savings could be as well.
Feel free to give us a call if your are considering getting a new furnace!
